Start here. The essentials.

Who it is.Google's parent Alphabet (ticker GOOG) owns Search, YouTube, Android, Chrome and Google Cloud, plus its own Gemini AI models and the self-driving company Waymo. Most people on earth touch one of its products every day, and the cash behind all of it comes mainly from advertising on Search and YouTube.

Its temper.Google has long been a steadily growing tech leader, but from 2023 its share price became especially sensitive to whether AI will replace search: every time a new chatbot takes off, the market fears its ad business will be bypassed; when Gemini and Cloud deliver, the stock rebounds hard, climbing above four hundred dollars in May 2026. After reporting results on 29 October 2026, it fell 12.6 per cent in a single day — its largest one-day drop since listing in 2004.

The real challenge.Google is fighting on two fronts. The first is the AI race: chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT give people the answer directly, without clicking through search results, and Microsoft, Meta and Amazon are all spending heavily on the same future. In 2026, Search revenue growth slowed from 19 per cent in the first quarter to 12 per cent in the third, missing expectations two quarters running (the company blamed currency movements for most of the slowdown). The second front — and the main reason for the October 2026 plunge — is how efficiently investment turns into returns. In the third quarter of 2026 alone, Google's capital spending reached $51.4 billion, more than double a year earlier; the full-year plan is $195–205 billion, with a significant further increase planned for 2027. With that money going out, free cash flow for that quarter turned negative at minus $9.1 billion, and compared with Microsoft and Meta, Google has the widest gap between operating cash flow and capital spending. Cloud revenue growing 103 per cent shows the demand is real, but the market's question is no longer whether Google can build AI — it is whether each dollar invested can come back as cash faster than its rivals' dollars do.

So let the tool decide. When the debate about a company shifts from whether it is good to whether it is worth spending this much, the stock tends to swing hard around every earnings report. Rather than judge whether the investment is foresight or excess, hand the call to DCA Score. It reads only price position, drawdown depth, buying strength and market fear: low score, keep the original pace; a higher one scales the add-on up.

One thing to know.Google's DCA Score leaves out the valuation factor: there is no valuation data for this ticker, so the score reads only price position, drawdown depth, buying strength and market fear. Keep in mind that Google's huge capital spending eats its free cash flow, so if valuation were included it would usually count against it — worth bearing in mind when you read the score. It also holds stakes in companies such as SpaceX, and swings in their book value move net income — and the P/E — around a lot; the third quarter of 2026 included an $8.7 billion investment loss. It began paying a small dividend in 2024 and keeps buying back shares.

Every moment worth adding

See it for yourself.

Ten years of GOOG price with the DCA Score line on top — at a glance you can see how far it has run, and how many times the market has knocked it down along the way. Both lines are already stacked for you.

For a closer look, tap “hot zones” to bring up the add-on bands. Every lit band is a moment the score said “you could buy a little more” — the darker the colour, the rarer that spot.

Then use 10 / 5 / 3 / 1 year above to pull back across the whole cycle or zoom into the recent stretch. Price shows you the moves; the score shows you the timing.

Good question

What most people ask.

No. DCAcafé is a data tool that helps you think through the timing and sizing of investing in GOOG; every decision is your own. Past performance doesn’t indicate future results.

GOOG’s price and RSI come from Yahoo Finance’s public API, VIX from CBOE, and valuation from public financial filings. Data is refreshed once daily.

When GOOG’s DCA Score reaches 60 or above, the system computes an amount beyond your base budget. The higher the score, the higher the matching cap — up to 1.8× the base. It’s the system’s cap for the period, not a rule; you can adjust it yourself.

Because market conditions change. Each time, the system re-reads GOOG’s RSI, drawdown and VIX to compute it. That’s the whole point: let the amount follow the market, not the other way around.
